Born on 13/09/1952, of Ligurian origin, Lorenzo 'Kuaska' lives and works in Milan and Genoa. He published for Altreconomia the book "Beer does not exist" and for Ed. Gribaudo, the books "Le Birre" and "Il Manuale della Birra" and contributions and chapters of books by Michael Jackson, Tim Hampson, Garrett Oliver, Randy Mosher, Tim Webb and Stephen Beaumont. He has written numerous articles, prefaces, interviews and texts for Italian and foreign guides and publications. Cultural Manager of the Unionbirrai from 2001 to 2009, currently Cultural Manager of the MoBI (Beer Consumers' Movement) of which he was co-founder in 2009.
He has participated in numerous radio and television programs in Italy and abroad and has conducted events, conferences, seminars and tastings, as well as in Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, France, Switzerland, Spain, Malta, Canada, United States, Brazil, Chile etc. Main fighter to preserve and support traditional lambic and gueuze with the family Cantillon/Van Roy, he converted crowds of beerlovers in Italy and abroad to enjoy and appreciate the sour beer taste.
Teacher in Slow Food Masters and in countless courses organized by individuals and associations throughout the peninsula, teaches beer culture and tasting at numerous secondary technical institutes and university faculties.
He founded in 2012 the 't Kuaska Instituut to disseminate the culture of beers through various activities (consultancy to producers, distributors, local breweries and non-breweries, beer-themed trips, event management, etc.). In November 2013 in Liège, Belgium, he was awarded the title of Chevalier du Fourquet "honoris causa". Among the extra-brewing activities, he is the judge of the World Championship of mortar pesto sauce held at the historical Palazzo Ducale in Genoa in even years.
As an avant-garde poet and writer, since 1982, under the pseudonym of Kuaska, he has acted in theater and has published numerous stories and poems for the series "Le teste pensanti" published by Anadema.
