A monument of the park architecture - park in Nedešćina
The natural heritage in the area of the Sveta Nedelja municipality has one registered protected area of nature - a monument of the park architecture in Nedešćina. It was declared the protected park of nature in 1974 and is located nearby the former Villa Furlani which nowadays is a senior living facility “Sv. Nedelja”.
Today, the plant inventory in the park is very plain and there are some traces of vegetation, but several types of the trees are located in the park that makes it interesting and a unique horticultural place in Istria: Greek dishes (Abies pinsapo), Lebanese cedar (Cedrus libani), Paulonia (Paulownia tomentosa), Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), Acacia (Robinia pseudacacia), Wild chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), Black pine (Pinus nigra), Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum), Elm (Ulmus), Yew tree(Taxus baccata), White poplar (Populus alba), Oriental hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis), Hop-hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), Sycamore (Platanus orientalis), Laurel (Laurus nobilis), and Downy oak (Quercus pubescens).
