Istria has been pronounced best olive oil region in the world fourth year in a row. It is a great success for our green peninsula with olive oil making tradition longer than 2 millennia.
Olive oil is the most used cooking ingredient on the Mediterranean as well as healthy.

10th edition of the Flos Olei guidebook offers results of tasting of a large number of samples presenting olive oil making from 52 countries from 5 continents. There are 81 Croatian olive oils included in the publication, 79 of which from Istria.
Most olive oil makers accomplished better results than last year, 4 of which have gotten excellent 97 points which is an enormous success.
The Oleum Maris company from Vodnjan was pronounced “best rising company” in the TOP/20 category of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world.

The Istrian Tourism Board has from the beginning been coordinating Istrian olive oil makers. It represents the connection between olive oil makers and the publishing house from Rome.

For the first time, ITB has this year, along with the press conference and guidebook presentation, organized two expert lectures. First by Marco Oreggia, founder and publisher of Flos Olei, on raising Istria’s level of presentation, second on importance of those who run the processes of olive oil making, by Duccio Morozzo della Rocca, one of the experts on extra virgin olive oil.

Press conference and Flos Olei presentation was held in Wine Hotel Roxanich in Motovun on March 8th at 11.30 am.
