Dance and Non-Verbal Theatre Festival
Dance and Non-Verbal Theatre Festival is an international festival which program is composed of contemporary dance productions, physical theatre, mime, circus performances, and street art. This festival presents a form of expression which is relatively new to Croatian audience but which is very attractive (especially circus performance). On top of the abovementioned rich programme, each year the festival also offers an off program comprised of various workshops that include dance, mime, performance, art, and mask making, and the final works are presented to the public during the festival.
The week long festival takes place in July each year, and it gathers artists from around the globe. Its main goals are to present recent dance works, exchange experiences and spend time together. It aims at eventually becoming Mediterranean Dance Centre, which would allow the festival’s current presentational and educational possibilities to be more precise and consistent, while allowing it a further growth.
Throughout the years the festival hosted artists from around the world who presented their works that range from classic dance theatre through multimedia theatre performances to street theatre and circus performance, and visual artist and performers participated often as well. The program is held in various locations, such as the square, the castle, and in streets of the city. This certainly contributes to the charm that it possesses and it enhances the open concept idea of the festival.
