At the opening of the central season of the 29th Jazz in the Lapidarium season, the Tamara Obrovac Quartet will present their album Cloud, which received three Porin awards in 2024:
- Best jazz album;
- Best jazz composition (for the track Oče moj);
- Best jazz performance (for the track Dvi divojke).
Cloud is Tamara's thirteenth original album, the third she has made with her quartet, featuring new compositions that remain true to the fusion of Istrian music with jazz, performed by this group of excellent musicians with joy in making music, through unrestricted expression, musical virtuosity, humor, and improvisation, characteristics that have been present since the quartet's inception.
Seven original compositions are featured on this album: from the opening Na nebu postelja, to the track La nuvola (after which the album is named), followed by Zatancaj, Dvi divojke, and Niki drugi svit, concluding with Oče moj and Kovarske litanije. Tamara Obrovac is the author of all compositions and lyrics on Cloud, except for the verses of the tracks La nuvola and Kovarske litanije, which were written by the renowned Istrian poet, and Tamara's regular collaborator, Daniel Načinović.
As with previous albums, this one was recorded with the quartet lineup that has remained unchanged since 1997: Tamara Obrovac - vocals, Matija Dedić - piano, Žiga Golob - double bass, and Krunoslav Levačić - drums.
With the album Cloud, the Tamara Obrovac Quartet celebrates 25 years of existence and playing together.
