16th Rovinj Spring Jazz
For the first time, the 16th Rovinj Spring Jazz Festival will be dedicated to a repertoire composed for jazz orchestras. The repertoire characteristic of jazz orchestras will be performed by the JazzIstra Orchestra, which will be accompanied by great Croatian jazz singers and pianists. Covers of numerous jazz standards and original compositions by festival guests will celebrate dance jazz rhythms, and since the festival will take place on an open stage for the first time, its goal is to invite the audience to dance. The festival will thus present to the domestic and especially foreign audience a whole constellation of great Croatian jazz musicians, composers and arrangers and contribute to the additional popularization of Croatian jazz musicians and bands, and jazz music in general. JazzIstra Orchestra is a jazz orchestra whose basic idea is to gather musicians from the Istrian region and find inspiration in the musical heritage of that region. In doing so, it strives to musically connect the entire geographical Istria, including its Italian and Slovenian parts. The orchestra is a classic big band lineup with four trumpets, three trombones, five saxophones and a rhythm section.
