Zigante

Grožnjan-Grisignana

Giancarlo Zigante, famously known as the "King of Truffles," holds the Guinness World Record for discovering the largest white truffle in the world in 1999, which weighed an astounding 1.31 kilograms. Over the years, he has masterfully expanded his truffle business, encompassing production, retail, and a renowned restaurant. In 2010, his passion extended to the production of extra virgin olive oil and wine.

He established the wine cellar in Kostanjica, his birthplace located near Grožnjan. The vineyards, planted over an area of 14 hectares, are situated on gentle slopes and fertile white soil in the surrounding countryside. Additionally, four hectares of olive groves have been planted, consisting of both local and introduced olive varieties. The vineyard is dominated by Istrian Malvasia and Teran, along with international grape varieties such as Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Zigante wines made their debut with the 2012 harvest, and today they proudly offer around ten distinguished labels. Their annual production ranges from 55,000 to 60,000 bottles. Among their offerings, the fresh Istrian Malvasia, the elegant Rosé Castagna, and the aged Teran San Stefano Gran Riserva are particularly sought after.
