San Tommaso

Vrsar-Orsera

The San Tommaso family winery was founded in 2008 by the married couple, Janja and Boris Debeljuh. Having already made their mark in the realms of trade and hospitality, the entrepreneurial duo from Rovinj saw the creation of a winery as a natural progression. They selected the picturesque village of Golaš, nestled near Bale on the route linking Bale and the Lim Channel, as the perfect location. Here, most of their vineyards flourish close to the winery.

The tradition of winemaking and viticulture in this region stretches back to ancient times, as evidenced by Roman archaeological finds near Golaš. Today, Janja and Boris are joined in their venture by their son David, who is increasingly tending to the cellar, while they manage other family enterprises. The winery stands on an estate that has thrived for over 150 years, always devoted to wine and the art of winemaking. To share this rich heritage, the Debeljuh family has opened a boutique hotel alongside the winery, offering visitors a chance to experience a touch of the past within this enchanting estate.

The San Tommaso winery cultivates approximately twenty hectares of vineyards and two hectares of olive groves. The vineyard’s crown jewel is the Istrian Malvasia, complemented by Merlot and Teran, with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Muscat Blanc also gracing their fields. Their presence in the market is marked by around ten wine labels, spanning from exquisite sparkling wines and enchanting rosés to refined Malvasias and Chardonnays, alongside robust red wines and captivating Muscats.
