Trapan

Pula-Pola

The Trapan family winery was established in 2005 in Šišan, near Pula. Bruno Trapan, one of the most gifted winemakers of the new Istrian wave, embarked on his remarkable journey with the unwavering support of his family. His generation of winemakers, including Ivan Damjanić, Marko Geržinić, Roberto Terzolo, and Danijel Kraljević, infused the Istrian wine scene with an abundance of excellent wines and a vibrant youthful energy.

The Trapan winery began with seven hectares of vineyards on red soil, nestled between Šišan and Valtura, while the garage cellar found its home in the Veruda neighbourhood of Pula. In 2010, the Trapan family unveiled one of the most modern wineries in Istria, located in Šišan. They expanded by planting an additional five hectares of vineyards, solidifying their position as a vital force in the Croatian wine scene. After years of exploring various wine styles, Bruno Trapan has now embraced organic winemaking, guided by the principles of Rudolf Steiner.

The vineyard predominantly showcases indigenous grape varieties such as Istrian Malvasia and Teran, complemented by international varieties like Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They grace the market with eight wine labels, each bearing an intriguing name. For instance, "Ponente" (wind) and "Uroboros" (a mythical figure) are names for their Istrian Malvasia. "Rubi Rosé" and "Tera Mare" are dedicated to their daughters, while the sparkling wine "Che" and the cuvée "The One" reflect the winemaker's own character.
