Istrian extra virgin olive oil Chiavalon "Ex Albis" was crowned last week with the title of one of the best extra virgin olive oils from organic farming. Chiavalon’s "Ex Albis" blend of five different varieties of olives has in fact been ranked in the world’s top 25 olive oils from organic farming by the organisation World’s Best Olive Oils.

For the fifth consecutive year, this organization is compiling a ranking list of the world's top producers of extra virgin olive oil based on the results achieved in the fourteen world's largest competitions for olive oil.

Chiavalon with its extra virgin "Ex Albis" participated in only four out of fourteen competitions which are taken in account when compiling rankings of the best olive oils; however, the results of these competitions were outstanding, allowing him to collect a large number of points and thus to be ranked in the world’s top 25 olive oils from organic farming holding the 18th place in the overall ranking.

"This award is the biggest success that our family has achieved so far. It is the result of a lot of work, passion and sacrifice of the whole family over the past 19 years when I, as 13 years old, planted our first 100 olive trees. Today we manage 7,500 olive trees and we are currently exporting to 12 countries around the world.

This award gives us even greater, priceless, visibility on the global market. It is at the same time a great promotion of Istria in the world. Afterwards this region was declared the world’s best olive region by the prestigious guide Flos Olei, we are glad that with this award we contribute as individual producers to the promotion of our region in the world, said Sandi Chiavalon.
