Countdown to the biggest wine event: Vinistra begins on May 9th
- The 31st edition of the wine event, taking place in Poreč from May 9th to 11th, will feature as many as 130 exhibitors, including 90 winemakers -
Records have once again been broken for the number of samples submitted to the 16th World of Malvasia and the 31st Wine and Spirits Awards, which precede Vinistra, the most significant domestic exhibition of wines and winemaking equipment. Among the 750 samples, as many as 350 were Malvasia. The evaluation took place from April 8th to 11th, conducted by a panel of 30 experts, led by British Master of Wine Caroline Gilby.
Vinistra’s constant alignment with global trends is evident from the changes to the evaluation system. The new standards, developed in collaboration with Decanter and following the experience of hosting the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, were praised by the evaluators themselves.
Tasting is conducted in three stages. In the first stage, a rating is assigned; in the second, only samples scoring 89 points or more proceed; and in the third stage, the champions are determined. Along with the champion titles for young and aged Malvasia, young and aged Teran, and young and aged Refošk, two new categories have been introduced this year – for Žlahtina and Momjan Muscat.
