Bertoša

Motovun-Montona

In the small village near Motovun, agriculture has been a long-standing occupation of the population, with a focus on fruit growing and viticulture, for which Kaldir is particularly well known. Three family wineries have dedicated themselves to serious work, one of which is the Bertoša Winery. It was founded in 2006 by Guerino Bertoša with the support of his son Robi, who manages it today. The first labels appeared on the market in 2009, and since then, the Kaldir winery has drawn attention with the quality of its wines, which the public quickly recognized. Today, they cultivate six hectares of vineyards in the gorgeous locations surrounding Motovun and Kaldir.

The vineyards are planted in deep white soil, with Istrian Malvasia and Teran dominating the varieties. They have also paid special attention to Pinot Grigio, and they cultivate a small amount of Merlot and White Muscat. They are present on the market with five wine labels under the common brand "Berba." Each wine bears its own distinctive label: fresh wines adorned in lighter hues, while aged wines don deeper tones. These labels whisper the essence of Bertoša winery: "Handpicked from the peaks of Istria." Nestled at the village’s edge, Bertoša's cellar and tasting room open to a breath-taking vista of Motovun and the Mirna River valley.
