House of frescos

In the main street in Draguć, in the old school, it’s situated the newly renovated House of frescos, today conference and exhibition place.

During the summer, it will also be a tourist information point which will help visitors to get to know better the cultural and touristic highlights – the beautiful churches with medieval frescoes.

There are four churches in Draguć. The oldest is The Church of St. Elisha, which is made of bichrome stone blocks - unique in Istria. The Church of the Lady of Rosary is a sort of a museum of sacred art. The Church of the Holy Cross has been upgraded several times and inside there is a painting of St. Fabian and St. Sebastian which was painted by Venerio Terisan, a famous painter from Vodnjan.

On the northern side, there is The Church of Saint Rocco - the patron saint against plague. It was usual in the 15th and 16th century to dedicate churches to this saint at the entrance of the settlement as protection from plague. The Church of Saint Rocco is painted with frescos of Antun from Padova (Kašćerga). One of the frescoe is dedicated to the people who suffered of plague.
