Our ancestors oriented according to celestial body positions, and even after thousands of years watching the night sky hasn’t lost its charm. Surrounded by a forest, the modern building of the Tičan hill observatory is situated in the vicinity of Višnjan by the old church of St Panteleon and a replica of an ancient monolithic observatory.
Tičan is the place where an interesting festival takes place - Astrofest, in the honour of summer solstice.
