Buje-Buie

Buje Winery Bastiàn, established in 2021, is among the youngest Istrian wineries. The Leko family decided to make a significant step forward in the fields of olive growing and winemaking by first purchasing the vineyards of Ireneo Celega, located in the lovely Buje vineyard positions of Kaštanjari and Cupiga. With Celega's involvement as the main viticulturist, one of the most notable Croatian 'flying' oenologists, Milan Budinski, is responsible for the wine production. The wine cellar with an elegant tasting room is located in the premises of the former Istrian giant, the Digitron factory. However, in a few years, a modern wine cellar is expected to open at the Bracanija microlocation, halfway between Buje and Brtonigla. Alongside the cultivable 30 hectares of vineyards, with plans to grow to 50 hectares, the dominant varieties are Istrian Malvasia and Merlot. Bastiàn is present on the market with around ten labels, with the most popularity gained by the charming Provencal-style Rose and the fresh Istrian Malvasia, which won the prestigious champion title at the Vinistra 2024 exhibition!
