Michelin-starred chef Jan Hartwig Holder is staying in Istria
"50 Best Explores" is being filmed in Istria, and on this special occasion, the celebrated German chef Jan Hartwig of the "Jan" restaurant, holder of three MICHELIN stars, and Anna Wender, the editor of Falstaff Germany magazine, are visiting Croatia.
"50 Best Explores" follows an internationally acclaimed chef as he journeys through the world of gastronomy, offering viewers a unique glimpse into the culinary excellence and cultural richness of each destination. During the filming of the campaign from July 8 to 12, Hartwig will explore, among other things, popular Istrian destinations and gastronomic oases in Rovinj and Pula, visit wineries and olive groves, as well as Cape Kamenjak. His adventures will also include truffle hunting and cooking in traditional taverns.
Jan Hartwig epitomizes top-tier gastronomic excellence, as proven by his remarkable achievements. In October 2022, he opened his restaurant "Jan" in Munich, which earned three MICHELIN stars within just six months, showcasing his distinctive, unparalleled style.
This campaign is a joint effort by the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Istria Tourist Board, building on a two-year successful collaboration with the esteemed 50 BEST RESTAURANTS platform.
“Jan Hartwig is undoubtedly a shining star in the world of haute cuisine, recognized by both Michelin and 50 the Best. We are thrilled to showcase the best of Istria this week. For this esteemed chef, his film production team, and the editor of Falstaff Germany, we have assembled a dedicated team to accompany them from breakfast at dawn to late into the night. The meticulously crafted program ensures that, in a short span, they can see, feel, and experience the essence of what makes Istria truly unique, and why it proudly bears the nickname Terra Magica. The adventure of truffle hunting, the thrill of tuna fishing, tasting the finest extra virgin olive oils, meditating with Istrian wines, and spending time with Istrian producers, restaurateurs, and locals, creates a harmonious blend that authentically and originally presents the essence of Istria. We are delighted that everything produced this week will reach a vast audience of tourism and hospitality professionals, as well as countless enthusiasts of unique stories and experiences. This will further elevate the reputation of Istria and Croatia as premier destinations," said Denis Ivošević, director of the Istria Tourist Board.
The arrival of Jan Hartwig in Croatia, one of Germany's most exceptional culinary talents, alongside the presence of a prominent media outlet like Falstaff Germany, lends further prestige to Croatian cuisine and eno-gastronomy. These culinary treasures rank high among the reasons why visitors are drawn to our country."
